Day 432: I need more Joan!

I painted another Joan of Arc today, and I'm in desperate need of more Joan of Arc photo submissions, so please friends, send me a picture of yourself posed as 'Joan of Arc on Fire'.

Here is a better photograph of the Joan of Arc I painted on my birthday.

Day 430: FEASTed

This is a picture of my presentation board at FEAST. I came in 9 votes shy for the grant, but alas, didn't win. All in all, it was a very very fun night. There was so much delicious food (including eggnog ice cream!). I got to talk to tons and tons of people about my project and about life in NYC. It was so inspiring to see such a large community of people (there were about 150 total) who cared about art and community and good food, and I plan to go to as many future FEASTs as possible. I also got a sign-up sheet full of names and emails for people who want to stay posted on my project.

In summary, a fantastic night!

Day 425: A Few of My Favorite Things

A silhouette is glowing, its deep red contrasting with the surrounding blue.
The moon is thick and pale.

I re-arranged the little drawings as though they were a puzzle, here is one of the ways they can fit together.

Also, I made something yummy. It is a combination of a curry puff and a souffle. Did I mention the cheese, it has a lot of really good cheese.

Day 422

I worked more on this large Joan of Arc. Right now it looks a lot like one of the smaller ones that I made. Larger like this, I think it needs more detail and some nice areas of thick paint. I'm really enjoying working large though.

Day 421: A New Joan

I added Joan to this painting, and have yet to decide if it is finished. Note: my small ink drawings are making an appearance in my larger work with this strange monster made of dashes. I'm really into this painting.

I also started this background for a 4' x 5' Joan. It was so much fun to scale up all the playing with paint I have been doing, though my arms are a little tired from moving such a big canvas around to get the drips how I wanted them.

Day 420: Grant application

I spent the day finishing up an application for this http://feastinbklyn.org/ grant. Now I'm all excited about using art to help communities in need. To read about the project, I just posted a new description at http://artformhop.blogspot.com/.

Day 419: Playing with Ink

I made a ton if these 18" x 26" ink drawings today. They are great fun, and very meditative.

Also, check out the blog I made today for a 24 in 24 (yes that is right, 24 paintings in 24 hours) to benefit Mali Health Organizing project http://artformhop.blogspot.com/

Day 418:

Another little ink drawing, I'm pretty into this one and am planning to incorporates some of it in my newest Joan of Arc.
This is layer one for the new Joan of Arc. I haven't exactly planned what is going to happen from here, but it should be exciting.
And a few more changes to my big JOA. I added some more to the black and white by the feet and went back into the figure with a 6B pencil to make it more present. Especially in the hands and hair. I also added a little white chalk to the figure to make it subtly whiter.
All in a yesterday's work.
