Day 117: My Portfolio

For most grad school applications, they ask for 15 images of art. Here are the 15 I picked out, but I've got a few alternates. If you see any of the 15 you don't like too much, or any alternates that you really like, let me know. I'd really appreciate any and all opinions.

  1. Given that I have a totally untrained eye, and no idea what these folks will be looking for:

In your portfolio, I really like the top row, the first four of the second row, and the second from the left on the third row.

Of your alternates, I really like the two on the right-hand side.

  2. Oh, and I had a strong reaction to the third from the left, on the bottom row of your portfolio, but I'm not sure if it was positive or negative.

  3. Um. Reclining Supergirl is one of your strongest pieces. Should definitely be on the first string. It looks like you're tuning your portfolio towards variety; what's the ultimate aim?

Also, like KG said- third fom left, bottom row, makes BOOM. I don't think I've seen that one. Was it one of your mundane orange paintings?

  4. Thirding what others are saying about the 3rdfromleftbottomrow--except that I'm sure it's love I'm feeling. I've never seen that one before. Of your alternates I like the fort-lookin one and the blue hair one a lot, but I may just react more strongly to work of yours that I haven't seen before. Like, I'm not in love with supergirl. But what do I know? Not really a lot about art.

  5. Oh and if I had to cast out one of the portfolio, it would be toothbrushing or hairdying.

  6. the toothbrudhing, hairdrying and girls in the lake should be replaced by the superhero, detailed you laying down and the two animals (not sure what they are). because while theyre nice, theyre not as strong as the three other alternatives.

  7. I just realized that I cut the picture of the kissing antelopes out of a magazine and that they are in a collage on my door RIGHT NOW. Hi, I'm Asya, Hoy and Maggie's friend.
