Oh it's on!

We've got one barrel assembled with all its supports on it's axel! The bushings have been turned to fit the axel.

Also, we've got the keyboard tuned!

This is getting real serious!

Kickstarted

Construction of the music box is underway!

I have been so moved through this process by the amazing support of friends and family! We've started a kickstarter to help pay for the cost of materials, and have already gotten a third of the way there. Thanks to all who have shared the link and or donated and or just told me they though this was a cool idea. You all are the best!

Here is the Kickstarter link incase you haven't seen it yet.

Big News

So as of the beginning of this semester, Annie and I have decided to only make art through our collaboration for the next two years. It is an awesome process and so many exciting paintings are being made as a result.

Before we made this decision however, I applied with Kelly and Ashley Goeller to make a giant music box as part of governor island's summer long show Figment. Today we just found out it got accepted! I am so excited to be working with these two talented ladies on this giant feat of engineering and metal working. The music box will have two cranks which can be turned independently to play two individual melodies, or collaboratively to play with interlacing the distinct songs into a new song uniquely a product of those two individual playing together.  It's almost 4 feet tall and 10 feet wide!

Not Quantum

I'm getting excited about physics again, and there are elements in my ongoing collaboration with Annie Blazejack that remind me of quantum entanglement.

But this piece is just about regular old entanglement. I want to keep adding to it until it's as big as a quilt.

Joan of Arc on Ice

I painted this for Maggie, who lives in Minnesota and is hardcore.
